found a few of my older artwork the other day and thought the poor dogs needed a better ref. I like the new one a whole lot better. The horns changed because I couldn't get ram horns to look right lol Naga knows ^^ i finally just did a frustrated scribble and changed the design completely lol
Gave the stags fur on their stomach/chest and tail. It's not a mane :} Does do not have fur on the neck, nor do they have antlers. They also only have one set of fangs, down from two.
Dieran are a mix of dog (Tasmanian wolf if anyone's curious) and elk. The antlers are not patterned after any specific deer/elk, but i was going for the more palm-like moose antlers. While dieran do have long claws and a strong jaw with sharp canines, they are more gentle and passive. Dieran are herbivores. They use their claws to strip bark off trees for their food.
Dieran are extremely fast, despite their shorter legs. They stand about five foot at the shoulder and can be tamed as riding mounts. Stags, naturally, are harder to tame and control, but it is possible, so long as the rider is aware of the antlers! They branch outwards quite a bit, however, so riders are generally not in very much danger of being impaled by a casual head toss.
Their fur is silky soft and does are very nurturing, even to non-dieran babies and often adopt abandoned foals.
Dieran live in herds of nearly 50-60 members. There is usually a single stag as the leader and protector, but some herds often have a few lesser bucks. The bucks are not allowed to cover any does, of course, but they help with herd protection.
While dieran may have a deer/horse-like mentality, they still fight ferociously and aggressively when cornered. Though they are slow to anger and usually passive, it is not a good idea to anger a dieran.Closed Breed
