Personality:
{Pranskter} Rarely will there be a dull moment around Zaak. He is extremely funloving and tends to get into things he shouldn't.

{Wary} Extremely distrustful of others, Zaak generally expects the worst and is surprised and wary when it doesn't happen like how he expected.

{Immature} Not having much of a real childhood before going into the military, Zaak was forced to 'grow up' immediately. However, instead of displaying good qualities, he has backslid into pulling pranks, playing hookie, and generally acting however the hell he wants. He's been punished so many times he's given up counting.

{Self-Centered} While not narcissistic in any way, Zaak doesn't think about others, especially doesn't think about consequences of his actions. This gets him into trouble a bit more often, as he has sometimes led others into danger unintentionally. Zaak doesn't do it on purpose, he just fails to think ahead, or plan for anything.

{Pessimistic} He never sees the bright side of things. While he doesn't spout predictions and grumble, Zaak rarely sees good options in life and usually ends up making worse decisions because of it. Lately, that has changed, due to his connection to Alastor, Cortana and their children.

History: He was born a commoner with an extremely harsh father. His father beat him, his sister and their mother nearly every night. After one such drunken brawl, someone knocked over a lantern, which caught the house on fire. Zaak lost his home and family that night, barely 16 years of age. He managed to join the Eberon military a year later. He has since grown up in the military, though has been in suspension quite often for misdemeanors and other misbehavior. He has gone awol quite often, but has somehow managed to stay in the army. For nearly 10 years, Zaak was a part of a small detachment that was stationed just outside of Torijo when they were attacked by a small group of f'kar. They were decimated to a man, but when he woke, he found himself in a living cage.

Captured and put to menial work for the bugs, he could barely see in the darkness of the caverns. Recalling himself being torn in half by a battledrone, he was therefore surprised he'd survived. Only later, did he find out the f'kar shamans were able to temporarily bring back the dead. The risen slaves did not last long, however, only a few months at best. Zaak could only watch as people were beaten to death, or others that simply dropped, the spell of rising having run its course in them. He found the bugs were planning a massive raid of the surface world, namely Ebero and Madora. Zaak tried multiple times to escape, but was beaten to an inch of his unlife each time. Finally, he managed to sabotoge some of their weaponry, but another man took the fall for it. Zaak confesed in an attempt to save the man's life, but the bugs threw him into the pit of Fera'kar to be eaten alive as a lesson for Zaak.

For weeks, he gave up, until he was nearing the end. He managed to slip out of the shackles just after a long 'day' of working and hid in one of the barrels that were to be shipped out to another hive. Unfortunately, that was when the lethargy and immobility hit. Zaak was unable to do anything and was nearly caught as a result. A raiding party of fairykin attacked the caravan and destroyed the bugs, upon finding him barely conscious, they took him to the head of their small force, a vampire by the name of Soto. Soto knew Zaak still had a heart and turned him, allowing him to survive the lethargic drain of the fading f'kar spell. Once he recovered fully, Zaak began fighting the f'kar just beneath the surface. Thanks to his military background, Soto put him in charge of his own raiding party. They were successful until a small f'kar scout somehow found their base. Nearly instantaneously, they were attacked by hundreds of the beetles and were pretty much slaughtered. Soto called upon Zaak through the vampiric link of master to son, telling him to escape and warn the surface; to escape and survive.

After losing everyone he knew for the third time, Zaak, now a rugged 28-year-old vampire, fled to the surface, found a ship and took it south to the continent of Tehutai. Knowing nothing else, he became a guard in the city of Hawthorne. For several years, it was fine, until he caught his superior officer in the act of murder. Before he could aprehend the man, the officer cried out, and turned around and accused him of murder. He was imprisoned and quickly found to be a vampire as he was unable to feed regularly. Sentenced to die, Zaak had no choice but to escape into the forest.

For nearly 100 years, he flitted from city to city, though never ventured further south to the tiny village of Deepwick until recently. He decided to travel there, having heard it was a haven for outcasts such as himself. He got a room at the Deepwick inn, but has no clue what to do beyond that. His plan was simply to ask the Lord of Deepwick for a job, but there was no standing military that he could see.
